To improve self-sufficiency rate of domestic wheat and barley, we are advancing the development and distribution of high-quality varieties, cultivation technologies for stable production and quality management technologies to encourage consumer’s needs.

  • Development and dissemination of wheat varieties that meet The consumer’s needs
    • (Bread) Developed 'Baekkyeong' , a cold tolerant wheat cultivar with improved gluten protein composition and baking quality
    • (Noodles) Developed 'Hanmyeon', which is highly adaptable to double cropping and has improved noodle texture
      • (Baekkyeong) Establishment 9 production sites totaling 6ha in 2026, (Hanmyeon) Establishment 2 production sites totaling 2ha in 2025 (foundation seed production in 2026)
  • Development and dissemination of barley varieties with high cultivation stability and processing suitability
    • High-quality malting barley variety 'Saehopum', resistant to powdery mildew and barley yellow mosaic virus
      • Establishment of the 'Saehopum' cultivation field in Jeju Island: (2025) 1 field trial site → (2026) 2 field trial sites (2ha), On-farm demonstration trial (7ha), foundation seed production
  • Blending technology development for enhancing the noodle and bread quality of korean wheat
    • (Bread) Establishing suitable Korean wheat cultivars and blending ratios for Campagne bread production
    • (Noodle) Establishing optimal Korean wheat cultivars and blending ratios for white salted noodle processing
